Hot New Product: "The Pioneer" Glove by Kombi

I wouldn't usually go for a puffy winter glove. I like the well-fitted leather type that allow for good movement, and other gloves with a similar level rating system to the KOMBIs. I knew about the hype around KOMBI gloves: that they offer great winter protection for a fair price, and they're a Canadian family-owned company. So when we got a full size run of their product in, I had to give them a shot. 

The first thing I noticed was that they were VERY insulated and warm. I know, puffy gloves generally are, but these were a step up in comfort and fit. They have a warmth rating system ranging from LVL 1 to 4 (I haven't seen a LVL 1 or 2 in person yet so I can't comment on how they feel). In the shop, we have the LVL 3 & 4 gloves, in a full mitt style, full glove or half-mitt. I chose The Pioneer glove, as I wanted full feeling and control, thinking I would try them out on the dual sport when I have a chance. 

While wearing them home on a very cold (-15°C) day, I found immediately that I didn't feel a thing from the outside elements getting in. The gloves offered full protection all the way up to the wrist, with a cinch strap if you really need to keep the warmth in. Even the biting cold wind wasn't getting through them, as I stood and waited for the bus home for about 15 minutes. Another great feature is that these are fully waterproof... I can confirm this is true after cleaning a fair bit of snow off my partner's car with them. 

This is a shorter review, because I really can't think of a negative with these gloves. They have a solid price point ($49.95 CAD), full waterproofing and weather resistance, a good fit and feel, and Kombi offers a wide variety in a smattering of LVLs for ultimate warmth and comfort. I never thought I would see the day that I would find a puffy set of gloves I love, but here we are. KOMBI gets a 10/10. 

Potential uses: These would be amazing for side-by-side/ATV use. Full feeling of the controls/grips and excellent weather protection make them a solid option for consideration. They could also be great for the dual sport or ADV lover who still has a bit of season left in them and want a glove that can do it all without sacrificing feeling.
